The Ten Second Triage (TST) pocket card has been developed to help meet the needs of first responders during mass casualty events. This card helps to assign casualty priority, ensuring casualties are treated in the order of urgency.

A must-have for those responding to mass casualty events such as frontline service professionals, including the police and fire service prior to the arrival of the NHS clinical response.

Side one features the recommended priority triage routes to take depending on the incident. There is a ‘yes’ answer which guides to the next question, or a ‘no’ answer which determines casualty priority.

Featuring P1, P2 and P3 or Not Breathing. Clinical instruction are highlighted in bold.

  • P1 - immediate lifesaving treatment required e.g. critical injury
  • P2 - requires significant intervention as soon as possible e.g. injured and unable to walk
  • P3 - delayed, required medical intervention but not urgent e.g. can walk to treatment
  • Not Breathing - no signs of life

Side two of the Ten Second Triage (TST) pocket tool sets out the METHANE model. This brings structure and clarity to the initial stages of managing any multi-agency or major incident.

  • M – Major incident
  • E – Exact location
  • T – Type of incident
  • H – Hazards
  • A – Access
  • N – Number of casualties
  • E – Emergency services

Side two also provides boxes to number how many casualties are in each category of priority – P1, P2 and P3 as well as Not Breathing from 1 to 20 casualties.

Made from laminated plastic, which is hardwearing and easy to keep clean. Standard ID card size, 85 x 54mm (CR80) - ideal for clipping to lanyards or in your pocket for easy reference.
